Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core
2.66 GHz QX6700 Processor

Is the Intel Quad-Core QX6700 for you?

In matters of CPU there's no other word in my vocabulary then Intel. AMD who? They can't compare! And read building the ultimate gaming beast after you finish this one.

You have half the YES answer if you considered reading this article in the first place. Do keep in mind the Quad-Core is PRO and if you don't do anything else then basic stuff on your computer, it's worthless for you unless you have $1K to spend and smoke your friends.

The Intel Quad-Core is fast and by fast I really mean fast! I've had 5 computers and the previous was a 3.2Ghz P4 which is a joke compared to this. I used to play a game and it rendered with a top of 10-20fps when there was no action. With action it went to 10fps or less. Now I can't get it below 60fps and the video card has a lot to do with this too. Considering the fact that it has 4 Intel CPUs inside imagine how fast it can be.

There's no task to small or too big for it and with average usage I can't get it over 10% in a days work. And I use Opera Browser with over 50 opened tabs at any time. And all the servers running and a lot of extra software … I'm a power user &helip; and it won't even break a sweat.

Games, Oh My god! The games …

There's no game I can't play. And I'm sure it'll be like this for the next years. It runs smoothly no matter how much action and how much it has to work. This CPU has gaming written all over it.

The QX6700 Intel Quad-Core is HOT!

Yes it is HOT but it also is hot. It runs on around 55-60 degrees and tops at 100. You should not go over 100. First thing I was stressed about was the stock CPU Cooler Fan. First days I kept my eye on the temperature to see how it works. It's kind of expensive to total it. The stock fan is not that bad if you plan to use it an a factory because it's noisy like hell. It runs smoothly and when the things heats up and the speed is increased you will be tempted to sid on the PC so it' won't fly off. It sound like a rocket.

So go for a Zalman instead. The Zalman is quite tricky to install as it's grabbed from below the motheboard. Remember this as I didn't know and took a while to figure it out. And make sure your PC case can stand the heat and has enough fans for ventilation. Mine has 3 vents with 3 level variable speed. It's black and shiny and looks like furniture. You can just buy it for the looks.

In the end …

Buying a Quad-Core is a complete upgrade as it needs its own kind of compatible hardware to handle the pressure. I built my own myself and if you check the article about my ultimate computer gaming beast you will see a list of compatible elements that work perfectly for me.

Good luck and, if you decide to get one of the CPUs, you will enjoy a computing experience unlike anything you've ever seen. And I bought my entire computer from Amazon.com and the experience was exceptional and prices way lower then at local retailer. (Free tip!)
