An update …

I received a reply by email and Aaron was aware of this and will fix it soon. Meanwhile he's getting married and Congratulations!

On the other hand, after some research, I noticed this problem is widely spread among ebook publishers. Rumor has it most Clickbank publishers have their ebooks as public property also. People! Protect your sheet!

First I have to say this might not be right even if I'm 100% sure of the security flaw as I downloaded this eBook with a PHP script from a webserver with no cookies or anything. Don't beg for the link as I'm not sharing it. It's worth the bucks so buy it!

I got the SEO Book today …

I did something I never imagined I would do. I just spent $80 on something free. Yes! The experts working in security for Aaron Wall managed to leave his book available for public download.

Yes! You heard me! Public. I saw the link had no security and tried to download it from my webserver with a PHP script and it worked. Imagine the horror! How can a guru funk up like this? SEO and coders is something so different. I'm a coder and proud of it.

I sent him an email and asked for this to be fixed. I don't enjoy paying for free stuff. And, if any of you had the link, you could download it too. And the link is plain and the same for anyone. No security integrated in it. Aaron Wall, please fix this!

He does have some security!

The download page states:

Step #1: Please bookmark this page for your future reference. (please do not use social bookmarking services like Del.icio.us)

Hilarious!

Now a bit about the SEObook.

I had an older issue from 2005 or so and I knew it is good. And it really is worth the $80 is you have anything spare. It gives you a better look on things and is straight forward. He dares to say what others don't. He shares experiences and many things I consedered true with no proof are also mentioned as true here.

If I recommend you buy it?

If you have $80 spare buy it. It comes bonus packed, has over 300 pages and is well written. Looks nice printed also. It has many links to forums and different threads and sites and tools and web directories and … many external resources are also included in it. And you will read a lot of interesting tips and also some insight in internal search engine ranking.

For those who care he talks about PPC also, how to start a SEO company, web directories, on-site and off-site optimization. All SEO topics are discussed over 300+ pages. And consider combining this with Brad Callen's - SEO Made Easy and you'll have a blast.

Conclusion

Aaron, please fix your issue and do not make those who pay feel cheated as they paid for 'public' information. I did not post the URL here and I won't do it but you are also loosing money as I'm sure this URL is spread among many friends. When you fix this let me know and I'll remove this content and only leave the review here.

Regards,
5ubliminal

You should seriously send me that link. I could use an updated copy. I purchased the SEO book in December 06, and I never received my 'free updates' to the book as I was promised. Good book yes, but broken promises. I don't appreciate broken promises.

Great to know there are honest SEOers out there.

As I said I'm honest and keep my word and I'm not gonna give away HIS book for free. But there are several contact methods listed on his site and if you send him the order number or your name or any proof of purchase I'm sure he will fix this.

Regards.

@Jellymeli: I believe the updates is his blog itself.

I found this confusing also.
When you buy it you get a thank you note and a personal download page with the download link inside.
When he updates the book, if you visit the link, you will find the new download link for the new book.

I was expecting this to be sorted out by email but you just have to keep and eye out and pay attention on his site.
