5ubliminal's YAMS
Quick question: Looking for some input!

It's simple and it goes like this:

  • What SEO Software do you use?
  • What SEO software do you need but can't afford?
  • What SEO software do you need but haven't found?

I'm really looking forward to some input. Gimme names, ideas and if you just want to share the message with me let me know in body and it won't be published.

Some smart people will say: You trying to steal our ideas m8? and I will tell them one principle I live by:

If you inspire me to create a tool … you get it for free!

I'll level with ya.
Me, I come off as a seo bh, but I am not. But I love bhters & seo people because they make me money. How so? Unethical ways.

I can't become a good BH because of my full time job. And when I say, full time; I mean like, my job entails me to have to run through the streets of Fallujah and engage enemy fire. Get my drift?

But, I do enjoy BH & SEO. Its more of a hobby but I want to learn to do it myself vice the way I am doing it now.

A buddy of mine got me semi-started but hes off in his own world now and I can't really get in touch with him like I use to. Our 1-on-1 sessions were a lot better then trading emails.

1. The best software he gave me was Keyword Elite. It allows me to quickly find keywords. I've read about a bunch of other places to get keywords, but he advised me to hit the long tail keywords first. So I have with a few YACG sites I set-up. They work alright. I get index, rank high on uk and other versions of SE, but as for the main 3, g, y and msn, I am having trouble. I need links. I could go my unethical way, but I want to do this the SEO/BH way. So I am still reading on that (linkbuilding) as much as my job allows. Which brings me to...

#2 XRUMER. I heard, read, and was told in person that this is the best of the best when it comes to building links. Automated, fast. Top notch program but for top dollar that I really can't afford right now since Bush veto'd our little .5% raise. I want my BH funds to pay for it and so far, I haven't made enough on my own to get it.

#3 As a beginner, I don't know how to answer this because I really don't have a full fledge operation going like most people in this circus. But now that overture is taking its weekly dumps, my keyword tool isn't as great as it could be. I guess one script I need to have someone write me is a tool to find long tail keywords and give specific information about; ie: density, daily searches, adsense bids, and if it has related products on cj or ebay. Yea, not a good tool, but its what I need.

Sorry for the long post, just had to explain a lot. Adios!

@Genoa:

Wow! I mean wow! This blew me away.
1st things 1st: Even if I risk to offend 90% of my readers I say one thing: F.U.C.K. BUSH and his oil, war and world domination, his nukes and his daddy!
2nd thing: I'll send you an email later on or tomorrow. I'm neck deep right now in source code working with 500.000 words in memory and searching keyphrases in them and trying to keep runtime below 5-10 seconds.
I'll give you some hints for help and I'll have an article on one linkbuilding strategy today.

PS: I'll have a post on XRummer tomorrow. You'll find it most comforting.

@vjstar: The SEO game has changed a lot lately. I'll have a linkbuilding article later on today.
I'm working on it and will come with a piece of software like the TextBlender.
Gotta do a video tutorial and stuff … will take a bit.

Hey 5ubliminal - what are you using to publish this exclusive content to your RSS subscribers? I've been looking for something similar - everybody recommends the Feedfooter plugin (i've got a WP site) but it rewrites posts after the tenth one. Not good for me cos my post will be a case study over a few months - thanks!

This blog is 100% custom hand-job of mine. Can't really help you … but you can make your own blog engine:)
I have an option that hides articles from homepage but shows them in RSS. Of course these articles are visible but not as homepage posts.

@Quit your dead end job: What you need to do is employ a little custom php on your homepage to keep certain categories off the home page. I do it with my blog, then you use the same code to keep that category off your sidebar and you're done!

Or you can just use this excellent plugin Category visibility

@5ub - I think a really good crawler, robots.txt and sitemap generator are still lacking. A1 is a resource hog and you can't change rules on the fly, Xenu doesn't give any options when outputting a sitemap and doesn't generate a robots.txt. Sitemap generator for Mac (cool software btw) lets you change filters on the fly to modify the sitemap as you go along but won't generate a robots.txt (I know it's easy to make one once you have the filters but it's an extra step that I shouldn't have to do).

All of these generators fail when dealing with really large sites (+10,000 pages) and then I usually have to use a php generator that will split it into gunzipped files for me but lacks all the other options.

Plus user-agent spoofing and following current no-follow rules? Those work in A1 but nothing else does heh.

As for link building tools, cool sure but any automated linking scheme will breakdown with the masses using it. The juicy link finder over at SEOmoz is pretty cool but it doesn't really do anything to filter out unusable websites.

Dan ... see my Yahoo! Mes ID anywhere on page?
Get in touch with me. Add me. I'll be away for few days but I'll get back to you on my return.

PS: No linking scheme here. I'll just provide a tool to make life easier with legit linkbuilders and linkbuilding.

Something I've been working on myself (for private use) is a "deep sight link" (DSL) examiner.
Basically, most tools will look at a websites back links and that is great (sort of..) but why not take it further and look to see where the sites linking to your competitors are getting their links. You can easily map a niche/informational hub hierarchy from this data to get a much stronger idea of where you need to get links from (all other things being equal)

Of course, at the end of the day-- what I would like to see and what I am building for myself is a single control panel I can manage both of BH and WH sites from and the tools I use to build and promote this properties.

It's indeed really important to see who links to those who link to those you check their links out :)
But doing 1000 backlinks * 1000 backlinks for each takes us to astronomical figures. Proxies are needed as … there are too many links to scrape.
A workaround this would be to check the PR of the pages that link on first level. Take only the strong and check them out. The strong must have some good backlinks and those you're after. Or see which domains are oldest. Those must have most links.
I have something like this done already and I'll think about 'sharing' it in near future.

A RING TO RULE THEM ALL :) An all-purpose control panel is something everyone wants but unachievable as there's no one-size-fits-all solution. Everybody has their own style, tools and needs a custom job.
A control panel like this is developed in time and changes along with your style and techniques.

I agree on the backlink tool. I was looking at various methods for finding the proper sites-- PR and age were two. The ability to rank for the title tag was another-- though I suspect I will still have to use proxies to make this work.

Yeah-- of course. I suppose I was speaking more of tools I wanted for myself rather than tools that would be useful for the entire world. And while there are various tools and methods, I can't help but thing something modular could be created that would deal with 80% of "common" tasks-- with some sort of opened ended system that could play off peoples custom tools. I am taking in vague sort of lofty terms because I am still trying to wrap my head around "how the fuck would that even work"

The whole content management could be done but linkbuilding panel can not.
How would it be if we all 'linkbuild' in the same places :) Funny thing is we already seem to do.

@5ubliminal: You think you hate Bush? I have to watch my buddies get in a truck and then hear about how they got ambushed over a fucking radio.
I hate this war...and we all HATE him.

Thanks for the help! Looking forward to the email.

@Genoa: I still don't get one thing. How does your IP resolve to Japan?
PS: Do you visit this site with a proxy :)

I see. You were on the plane to US :)
PS: I do use proxies too but I keep them within my country :) ... for speed.
PSS: Hope you're not a stealth Google employee.
