I bumped into this POS sales letter.
I'll try to keep it short but to the point. I'm still on vacation:)

While looking for some affiliate programms I bumped into this seoseductionsecrets.com bullcrap sales-letter. I never read such BS as they all promise miracles which depend on your dedication and hard work :) But something struck me the moment I opened it.

This guy has the first image showing some top10 rankings for two websites on affiliate marketing which is a competitive keyphrase. How the hell am I supposed to guess those are his sites? How stupid would someone be to fall for such a joke? He randomly picked 2 sites to show off and dazzle the audience.

Second image shows a ranking on, he says: speed ppc. But if you read the Google search box you notice a name next to his speed ppc keyphrase. The thing is, he is so skilled in SEO that he ranks 4th in a 1000+ results pack. WTF? How lame has one got to be to rank 4th in 1000 results and claim he's a SEO and a SEO book writer?

Later on he shows more rankings of random sites he never proves he owns on more/less competitive searches.

Pay attention to details. I wonder… Do people actually fall for such crap?

Unfortunately many newbies look for a quick way to get in the game and don't smell the bullshit and there are many "business men" operating by the "There's a sucker born every minute" principle, so there's nothing you can do.

They're only separating the wheat from the chaff anyway, if you buy into this crap you won't make any real money online...

Da… dar eu nu pot sa concep ca cineva poate sa ia o asemenea tzeapa evidenta.Dar, probabil, exista astfel de indivizi 'naivi'… sa nu le spun altfel.

Now in English:
I always make a silly mistake. I think people think the same way that I do. But I'm always wrong as stupidity never seizes to amaze me.
I really need to change the way I think and understand that there are people out there that fall for anything… and I'll be so much richer.
But what about my conscience? I have a problem with screwing people… I'd rather screw the system.

I have to ponder upon this:)

Why is it that all the scams out there use this exact same template? Click on any ad, or even just type in "Make money fast!" and you will find 1000 pages selling all kinds of things, and they all use this exact same template. All of them bogus.

It's always centered, with the two big columns down the side, littered with bogus testimonials and lots of giant text and pictures trying to get you excited. It's as if they all read the same book.

Hrm, I wonder who wrote that book... :)

It's the sales-letter format and people say it converts. I don't use it because I hate it. I don't want my sites to look like 99.99% of the web.
And this format doesn't work for me… at all. Who reads all that nonsense? So long, so flashy.

I'm into clean design.
PS: I think they all read the same ebook when it all started:) And everyone takes the idea for granted. I've read some interesting ebooks on sales letters from Amazon and the theory is good behind it. I just don't like it.

I hate to say it - but the sales letter thing does work. I run a number of membership sites and I try to keep my 'hype' to a 'not really there' mode.

Years ago I had a copywriter do some long copy for me. Paid something like 1500 for it - but it bumped my sales up about 30 percent with the same traffic.

I don't go there anymore... probably for the same reasons as you subliminal. I put out lots of stuff for free, code, tools, sites, etc.. It usually works out on this end. I enjoy doing it and while I could make more hyping crap up - it would just result in more support, and more headaches.

:) I just can't believe anyone takes time to read that whole thing. I know these work, I've written some myself and they do work bu… I don't like the format.
I've read several books on the subject and everybody supports the 'practice'.

And it's not the format I hate most, but the obvious lies they feed people to get their money.
That's my real problem. Some of them look legit but most of them are too obvious (and promise the world) about the scam behind. Like this one with those lame images.

I assume these sales pages must work sometimes with everybody using them but I really can't stand to look at them anymore. I know I'm in marketing now but the designer in me hates the site of overused templates. I also wonder if anyone reads all these mile long pages. Is there something about too much information that makes people think "It must be good, I'll buy it"?
