5ubliminal's YAMS
Never heard of it but…

… I bumbped into the 30DC (Thirty Day Challenge) these days and watched pretty much all the videos. I won't completely level it as it has some common sense parts good for beginners but it also has a lot of problems. And they don't practice what they preach.

The 30 Day Challenge is a thirty day bootcamp for SEO beginners aimed to make their first 10 bucks online. Obviously it's all about A Product, Wordpress and Social Link Building so, a bad start for beginners. I'll disect a bit what I've seen in the videos I had the heart to watch.

It's real purpose!

During all the videos they have for download you will find some predominant marks:

  • List Building
  • Funny English
  • Market Samurai
  • Social Link Building
  • Not Practicing What They Preach

List Building

The course is free but they want your emails. Expect to receive the spam, products' pushing and hype you everyday … from them also.

Funny English?!

These guyz are Australians and live with cangoroos in their back yard. And their English is entertaining for the least. One of them recommends himself as Guru Bob.

Market Samurai?! - Just Another SEO Tool!

If you said:

You can do keyword research with your browser but I will use this tool as it makes life so much easier!
… it's ok. But saying it like you virtually can't do keyword research without that tool: that's obvious product pushing. Sometimes, less explicit pushing works better. The tool is not that bad but it's so slow. They mentioned it does something my tool does in less then 45 seconds … in 10 minutes. Wtf? I don't wanna grow old in front of the computer.

Social Link Building

This is not something to teach beginners if you aim for ranking and not getting indexed. Social bookmarking gets you indexed, but won't rank you in even the least competitive markets. You'll get the initial ranking bump and then you're in for the hard times. I'd go for other lessons for beginners. Old school link building. Aiming for pages with less then 250 links on them where you can actually get some PR flow: Link Building 0.1.

But Link Building 0.1 takes a bit more time for beginners.
Not Practicing What They Preach

After I analyzed their linking patterns I realized they comment spam. And not manual but automatic stupid comments. This is what you teach beginners? Or is it the 'do anything to rank' and lie about how you ranked method? You tell me!

The 30DC attracts weirdos!

Look at this fucking queer. This video, with this almost epileptic individual with yellow teeth and obsessive compulsive disorder having a live stroke repulsed me so much it made me wanna punch something. If someone acted like that in my face … I'd shut him down, violently. And YouTube comments call it funny. Wtf is funny about that? Is this today's humour? x|

His face still haunts me in my sleep.

In the end!

It's quite an interesting watch in how not to make such a tutorial but has some common sense tips made for pure beginners. This video tutorial will show you what product pushing really means and how gurus(BOB) take advantage of noobs on their way to success.

I spammed the comments; it wasn't the 30dc people.

As someone who followed this year's course I have to tell you that I found it very useful:

1- First of all, they explain the basics of building a business online. And yes, if you are not a beginner that might be boring. But how many times seasoned IMs forget to do some of the most basic stuff?
2- One of the stressed points during the course is to create Quality Content. This is always a good advise. What they teach you then is WHERE to put this content to get optimal google awareness so you get the maximum bang-for-buck possible
3- They get you to create an asset (an SEO-optimized WordPress blog) that will help you get better rankings (for me it did)
4- They use socialbookmark tools just to get you indexed and they explain that you must expect heavy ranking fluctuations. To get a consistent ranking you must get backlinks, backlinks and more backlinks.
5- They also teach you some basic but very often overlooked PPC techniques.
6- All the purpose of this process is to Test if a niche is worth pursuing. If it is, then you create the product and start making money (although I recommend staying promoting affiliate products until they control the rest of IM elements, if not it gets very complex to handle)
7- Team building. Altough the team was not so important to build backlinks because of the social bookmarking tools I found it very usefull for the motivation and weekly status meetings we had. I value very much their opinions and I tried to help them as well as much as I could (good karma)

Regarding your predominant marks:
* List building. That might be true but you can unsubscribe anytime.
* Funny English. I am Spanish so my accent might look funny to you as well, there's nothing wrong with it.
* Market Samurai. True, there are others tools, but I do not remember any tool that can do all of the tasks this program does. And it's still in beta so it will get better. What tools do you recommend?
* Not practising what they preach. I believe that some hacking attempts to their sample project (backlinks from porn and PPC attacks) where made to them. Cannot confirm so you might be true on this.
* Weirdo's attraction. Any project with so many participants (my guess is they had +50000) attracks a broad range of people. You may not like them all and they may not like you. But that's they way it is.
* Finally, if anyone did not like the contents of the course, they get immediately their money back. Oops I forgot it was FREE.

PS: I am not associated with them in any way and these opinions express my point of view (that have no more value that yours). I follow more IM resources (including yours) and this course is among the most valued to me.

You're pretty much right on all of these and perhaps a bit too open hearted. Once you get to know this jungle you will reach other conclusions. Everybody will try to sell you something. It's what they give you in return what matters.
If I heard just a bit less ki$$-a$$ for that software, all would've been cool but too much praising, way too much.
As for software… I would recommend you my software but … it's mine, all mine … muhahahahahaha.

PS: There's a great difference between speakers of English as their second language and Australians, Irish, Scottish even British. I love their accents.

Sub,

Fine that you think the marketing of Market Samurai is a bit over the top... I can't speak to that... what I do know is that I've never met anyone smarter than Eugene, Brent, Andrew and the rest of the Noble Samurai guys. They, in turn are in-sync with Rob Somerville, Ed Dale and those guys, and anyone who dismisses them out of hard are making a very very big call.

I am not familiar with your tool, but would love to see it. Where do I find it?

Privet,

Oh sh*t!! Now we have another converted Jehovah's Witness from Spain preaching to the choir. Hey dude, why don't you go learn better techniques to make a buck or 2 instead kissing some loosers' a*sses?

That stuff is not free as discussed in the post by Aaron Wall. You're just being part of the herd (de borregos = sheep) that don't understand the whole picture.

Only noobs are enchanted by that scam. Once they learn what's really behind the doors, they turn into pumpkins. And you're right about reading this blog and listening to Darth Vader. Only a talented mate like him can express himself so freely with the truth:

"These guyz are Australians and live with cangoroos in their back yard"

"their English is entertaining"

"One of them recommends himself as Guru Bob"

"Look at this fucking queer"

"epileptic individual with yellow teeth and obsessive compulsive disorder having a live stroke"

Amen brotha!

Now, Thirty Day Challenge Jehovah Witness, you should go back to your temple and preach the good gospel that classy gentlemen wearing black hats call your Pastors Ed Dale and the other ugly mofo (the one with a pink thong that calls himself a hacker, LOL), product pushers, list builders and comment spammers.

5ubliminal, we need to get this baby to the first page. Let me know how I can help.

@Alister: My tool is private. Like any real blackhat's! That's how we roll.
You can't share too fast tools with beginners. Their computers might burn!
PS: I've done it once ;)

@Bambo: Nice comment. Really nice!:) Thanks.
PS: I'll see what it can be done about this post. Few more days before I become active again and put vacation behind.

@30 Day Challenge Addicted

You seem to know way more than I do about IM.

I have only one question for you: What satisfaction can be derived from defeating a inexperienced oponent?

Think of it.

@MF: Any oponent must be defeated, regardless of his level of experience.
But, if he's aware of his lack of experience, he shouldn't be an oponenet nor call himself one.

PS: You're not an Engish speaker, neither am I, but choice of words is the difference between life and death!
