5ubliminal's YAMS
I've been punked!

I've had enough of GoDaddy.com, those buck hungry beasts and I'm trying others. I always get privacy with any of my domains and found lower prices on Namecheap.com.

I was buying a bunch of domains on Namecheap and was reviewing the list. I removed one domain and checked-out. Then I changed my mind and went back to buy that one too … but SURP-FKING-RISE: It was already taken!

Apparently, the moment I dropped it from the shopping cart Namecheap notified these Above.com fks and they stole 'my' domain name. I made some whois queries before but only to Verisign whois server and I'm 99.9% it's not them who made the notification as I've been using them to check domains for qutie a while and this is a new one.

I've bought over 1000 domains up to now and this is a first! This shit never happened with GoDaddy!

My question to those who have dealt with Namecheap. Are they serious or should I keep searching? Should I worry they'll register the products in my cart before I hit the checkout button?

PS:
Excuse my language but I'm really pi$$ed and slightly worried about my future purchases (If there will be any)!
I gotta say this!

NameCheap's interface beat's the sheet out of GoDaddy's overcomplicated upselling one but when I click a domain name it says it timed out.

A temporary problem has prevented obtaining information about your domain. Please try again after few minutes.
More Info: The operation timed out.

I talked to live support and … We want to apologize for all troubles and inconveniences you experience at the moment, we are experiencing a technical issue at the moment.. And it's not the first time this goes down! Good thing I set up nameservers when I register them!

Now it's fixed!

fckers man, this has happened to me too, not on an amazing domain though.

The main selling point for pcnames.com is "Searches are NOT logged or recorded" - but they got a ton of already brought domains :/

But this one does not seem like a Registrar. I don't blame Verisign for snapping my domain as I used its whois. I'm 99.9% sure they are clean.
I'm pretty sure Namecheap did this as I dropped it from the shopping cart.

So now you can't trust your Registrar? They are stealing names out of your shopping cart?

Goddamn, and namecheap is actually my fave registrar. Although I only have a few domains with them (a bit under 50) this didn't happen to me, and I did what you did a couple of times.

Who knows, it could happen, but I'm hoping it wasn't namecheap doing the backstabbing...

Still, watch out, maybe it will drop in a few days. Cheers!

Sorry to hear about your trouble. I've registered 50+ domains at Namecheap, and I haven't had any problems.

Florine: That is what I was thinking. I will look if it drops in the 5days grace period.
It was a keyphrase domain with about 3000 exact searches in Google monthly.

Fk that domain, I don't care about it. But my true worry is: What if they snatch one out of my shopping cart? What if it was really NC who 'hinted' them on the domain?

Seems like you need to isolate and make sure namecheap is the culprit. Ive never had any problems with namecheap and have never suspected them of tasting. Go daddy on the other hand...had them steal domains from me and hold them hostage.

I've been registering domains with NameCheap for a while and never had anything like that happen to me before. I've heard horror stories about 1&1 and a few others. I hope that's not something they start doing frequently. You'd think they'd recognize the public relations headache practices like that would cause.

Can't say this has ever happened to me. NameCheap is easily my favorite registrat and I've been using them for about 4 years.

Thanks for your input guyz. I don't believe in coincidences … like ever!
I'll get a bunch more domains with them and I'll throw in some bait see if it happens again.
If it does … all hell is breaking loose.

Otherwise I'll just blame my local DNS server as I trust Verisign's whois :) I don't use my ISP's DNS as I got BIND installed which queries the top-dogs.
There's a mole in the system and I'm a whoop its ass!

I have seen this before on various registraz, in fact as a test I have registered a domain name on one waited 24 and checked on another and it said it was available. This is a propigation problem. I have never had a problem with 1 and 1. Cheap Domains and solid hosting. Tech Support Kinda sucks but most problems can be found in faqs however don't try to use a zend encoded program. I spent 3 weeks with lvl 3 support trying to get it to work and to no avail. Just my 2 cents

I've been using Namecheap for over 3 years now and have NEVER has this happen. I would say its a coincidence. Above prob has some industrial strength script mining dropped domains or something.... Namecheap is a top notch service.

This has happened with Godaddy also. I know for a fact that a client of mine tried to register a domain name and was having some problems and called support within 5 minutes and the domain had already been snatched.

Bull shit is what it is.
