5ubliminal's YAMS

A short update on latest developments aka proof of life.

Is referer spam traffic worth anything? Let's see with a small experiment. I'll ref spam a sample of 100.000 - 1.000.000 hosts (subdomains) depending on how fast it goes and update you with results.

I'm also interested in your actual results if you care to share them about ref spamming as traffic and not links source.

This is a short rant about a sales letter page I bumped into while searching for some affiliate programs. Pay attention to the BS this guy has on his page.

My question to you is: Do people fall for such crap?
Update: This is an older post that has a lot to do with the previous about cloaking. I've written it when I had less then 50 readers:) Now it's a good time to resurrect it. Read it and apply it if you're into the nasty stuff.

The meta description is very important for a website in both white hat and black hat use. But its importance is only understood when one employs cloaking and it's the last (only) line of defense against curious looks.

Some light food for thought about the latest AdSense TOS Changes which I bet you have overlooked just like me but, luckily, Jensen didn't!

I'll also mention: cookies, beacons and how I see this related to the latest European Union discussions about the IP address as being personal data, fact that can couse major problems for search engines that rely on IP tracking for their services.

In this post I will discuss this video by Nancy Andrews and some stuff along the long-tail side of SEO :)

Video on longtails.

Large scale link-spam is out. Surgically inserted links to blackhat sites are the future … but will be covered in a future post.

Given too many choices people will make the wrong ones. So, we should guide them (and their navigation throughout our sites) the right way - our way!

Jim Boykin agrees with me … indirectly.

Jim Boykin - SMO Links are Not Link-Building!

Social Web (Blogs, Forums and Social Bookmarking Sites) are fresh content oriented and are designed to fade old content away and aggressively promote the new stuff!

Don't put too much value on volatile links. You may be disappointed or never reach your full potential!

5ubliminal Blackhat Expert …

I've lived to be called a blackhat expert, I've been charged for it … but I didn't pay!

Blackhat Evolution!

First part of the blackhatvolution series where we will discuss on-site and off-site blackhat methods that work and will keep working as most are now obsolete or have extremely diminished income potential.

Crazy statement but bear with me! All the spam you get is actually conversion tips delivered straight to your email.

Beacon of Diamond!

A story of John Reese, The Shocking Video, broke people talking about making money online and Guiding Peaks of Diamond!

Steve Krug's - Don't Make Me Think!

The easier to use your website is … the better conversion rates you will have on targeted audience. And Steve Krug's - Don't Make Me Think explains how to achieve website usability.

Finally had the time to read the November update of Aaron's SEOBook and I highly recomment it. I'll share here some of my experiences with it.

You had me at free updates!

The Hidden Link

Google backlink searches show almost nothing but Yahoo! tries harder but may miss some important links which could explain unexplainable high rankings.

Affiliate Sales Tracking Cookies

Cookie your unwilling visitors and get credited for their purchases from your affiliate programs.

Use the Peekaboo method to flash your black-hat sites to the search engines and get them indexed faster! A method that requires coding finesse and returns rather good results.

My perspective on online-money-making GURUs that promise you everything and charge you for their promises.

A quite simple way to get some targeted traffic and potential prospects for your products.

There's a huge difference between the ones who handle websites and see the internet as professionals and those who just see it a s a library or market lace.

Learn to overcome this difference for greater success.

I figured out the real reason for this pandemic of widgets.

Next time you get slapped for an unsked gesture of appreciation know why it happened. You had it coming!

Some lamers get major rankings on 'buy viagra' on Google and Google seems 'impotent' about this. This problem with hidden links has been with us for a while but Google seems unable to figure it out!

After disecting the break-in at WebLogAwards 2007 now I will show you how they failed to protect themselves and how they can do it better. They only did client-side protection but none server-side.

Google highly trained and experienced paid links tracker

Google has a well-trained paid-link tracker who uses some well known features of paid links making them easy to spot. See how I would spot paid links if I were Google. But Google can do it better and faster as they have the firepower.

You Got Competition!

There comes a time in every webmasters life when a friend / acquaintance will pop the question about a site of his: What's the amount of traffic you get?

I just launched this Internet Explorer SEO Component that will help you notice the problem about today's web. Relatively new sites don't rank for anything remotely competitive!

Yahoo! Search API InLinks results seems to have caught the flu and is locked on the first 50 results regardless of parameters you serve. But there is a workaround for this problem!

Disciple and Master

I don't want to be your sub-affiliate, I want to be your disciple. I want you to be the teacher and teach your padawan to succeed. Don't let your student alone. Help him succeed and he will help you back!

So, give more and receive more!

Problogger launched a comment bait contest for people to comment and reply to this question. Feedback is enormous and I want to say what I would do but not there. Here, on my site!

I did an experiment and removed the reader count from the page. I got 6 new subscriptions overnight. It's not important if they stay... the increase is dramatic for me:)

Like my subscriber count?

I just had a revelation today. After I was shocked by something I've seen one day ago I came to see the bigger picture and reached some conclusions about things that held me back before.

A new scam appeared. It tempts bloggers to play ads on their site to products from major estores. Still ... what's the revenue sharing percantage? They say 3-6$ CPM. What?

If you feel like 'seeing' a ninja movie on the internet ration check this one out feature John Chow. N-Joy!

Social bookmarking has the concept but it fails exacty where it should not. Quality is not the rule of thumb, users have different Agenda.

Where there's hype there's not me! I don't like to flock and I, with my dirty mind, can see / imagine more than meets the untrained eye. Why would such a service be made free by one of the guru internet marketers: John Reese?

This is important if you do no have a steady hand! It happened to clikc my own ads by mistake and I hate messing stats with all my impressions. So I kindly asked AdSense to ingore me!

I will treat here a sensitive subject for any affiliate out there. I'll show you how to keep the upper edge on your affiliation programmes.

To cut it short use nofollow on your affiliate links or loose money!
